And that single — “Through the Cracks” — is accompanied by a music video you can check out below.
Kota, a Top 20 contestant from Season 9, told Voice Views the release marks the start of what promises to be a busy year for her and Bad Wolf.
Bad Wolf is finishing up and self-producing a few new tunes and hopes to launch its first tour later this year, she explained.
In addition, Kota is shooting for a spring or summer release of a six-song solo project she calls an “autobiographical account of my life and struggles with anxiety, depression, and being an artist and finding myself, all set to the theme of Alice in Wonderland.”
She’s been working on the project with husband and bandmate Tommy O. — they got married in 2017 — and former Voice teammate Tim Atlas, who has already produced music for a couple of other Season 9 alum.
And while it’s a solo project, Kota said she also performs that music with Bad Wolf as a band “because they’re my family and I wouldn’t want to be on stage with anyone else.”
As for the new single, “Through the Cracks” is a song Kota said she wrote with Tommy and Bad Wolf drummer Tim Falco a few years ago.
“The music was inspired by the Irish countryside with a taste of folk flare, and we actually called it ‘the folk song’ up until we finalized the video release and had to choose a real title,” Kota said.
“It’s one of our few upbeat love songs, so we wanted to show a different side of our writing to our fans who already know our more dramatic, breakup songs.”
You can keep up with Bad Wolf through the band’s website or Facebook page. On Twitter, they’re @wearebadwolf.
Here’s that music video.
