Brooke White back on Idol tonight

Brooke WhiteWe’re in for a special treat tonight, American Idol fans.

Brooke White will return to what she calls “the daunting” Idol stage to sing “Hold Up My Heart,” a new single just released on iTunes.

Brooke announced the appearance in a blog she posted today. The song will be the first single off her new album, “High Hopes and Heartbreak,” which is scheduled for a June 2 release.

“I suppose the good news is I won’t have to brace myself to hear the verdict of the judges,” she writes in the blog. “However, this is for real now, I’m singing one of my own songs… I would be lying if I didn’t say that I am feeling a bit vulnerable about this… but it is exciting!”

Personally, I can’t wait to see Brooke perform again. Folk singer Brooke might have shed a few too many tears in the minds of some viewers, but I always considered her the contestant most likely to record music I’d want to hear.

And, hey, she also has another song available for download, “Like Is Okay,” a duet with Michael Johns released last month. You can listen to the song on her MySpace page.

Actually, tonight’s episode should be more interesting than the typical Idol results show because I have no idea what to expect from voters.

I mean, Adam Lambert should sail into the finals. After that, it’s a big question mark. No one else excelled to the point where they’re a sure thing to advance, and that’s especially true of the ladies.

Mishavonna Henson. Megan Corkrey. Jasmine Murray. Allison Iraheta. I’d give them all an about equal shot at advancing based on the combination of what I heard and what the judges said.

Check back with Idol Chatter tonight. I’ll be blogging live during the show, and providing a recap after it’s over.
