Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” was the seventh-best-selling album of 2012, Billboard reported today.
About 1.2 million copies of Carrie’s fourth album have been sold since its May 1 release.
That number is sure to keep rising. The album was still number 32 on the Billboard 200 and number six on the country albums chart last week.
The best-selling album of 2012 was Adele’s “21,” which was also the top-selling album in 2011, the first time that’s happened since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking music sales in 1991, Billboard reports.
About 4.41 million copies of “21” sold in 2012. Taylor Swift’s “Red” — 3.11 million — was the only other album to top the 2-million sales mark.
Falling between Taylor and Carrie were One Direction’s “Up All Night,” Mumford and Sons “Babel” and Justin Bieber’s “Believe.”
Another Idol ranked among the year’s digital single sales leaders.
Music lovers downloaded 3.82 million copies of Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger.” It was the eighth-most-downloaded song of the year.
The top five singles downloads of the year: Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know” (6.8 million), Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” (6.47 million), Fun.’s “We Are Young” (5.95 million), Maroon 5’s “Payphone” (4.76) and Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” (3.98 million).
