Casey Abrams sings about signing a record deal

To date, we’ve gotten a grand total of two full-length CDS from Season 9 Idols.  Those would be the releases from finalists Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze.

By the end of the year, it looks like we’ll have at least six full-length albums from the Season 10 cast.  Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and James Durbin have already released CDs.  Haley Reinhart and Pia Toscano have record deals in hand.

The latest to join them — a Season 10 fan favorite by the name of Casey Abrams.

In yet another display of his sense of humor, Casey decided to deliver news of his record deal to fans via a song.   I suppose it’s titled “I’m Casey and I just got signed.”   To a record deal with the Concord Music Group, that is.

Sings Casey:  “I’m gonna make you music that you can’t get out of your head / for those lonely days when you can’t get out of your bed.”

You can listen to the entire ditty below.  Prepare to smile.  It’s Casey, after all.

As for the official press release, it mentions a timetable of early summer for a Casey Abrams album.  He’s been busy writing songs for it since Season 10 ended, the release says.

“Casey Abrams’ talent is deep and untapped,” says Concord Music Group chief creative officer John Burk.  “We’re excited to work with Casey and 19 Entertainment on fulfilling his great promise.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Concord has a jazz-heavy roster of artists, which explains Casey’s appeal to the label. That roster of artists includes Carole King and Ray Charles.

By the way, Concord, a Haley Reinhart-Casey Abrams duet would be a great idea for that upcoming album.  Just saying.
