Under the category of better late than never, Sugar Joans has a debut single out.
The song was actually released last month, and it’s called “NVR” — short for never.
Pop Matters premiered the tune, and here’s how Sugar described the track: “I feel like everyone has that one person in their life that they can’t help but think ‘what if?’
“No matter how messed up or complicated the relationship was, it still has a hold on you. And you want to think that if things were different, or if you hadn’t walked away, that maybe it would have changed.
“That feeling has haunted me for years, so now I just write songs about it.”
Sugar was a Top 12 finisher on Season 7 of The Voice, singing for Team Gwen and Team Pharrell.
Her standout performances included a battle round cover of “Survivor” with Jean Kelley and a wild card performance of “Back to Black.”
