Chris Sligh turns to Kickstarter to fund 2 (!) albums

Chris Sligh recently released a second post-Idol album, The Anatomy of Broken.Chris Sligh, the tenth-place finisher from Idol Season 6, has turned to KickStarter to fund his next musical endeavor.

And to say Sligh has big plans for 2012 would be an understatement.

He plans to release a 13-track worship album that will include 11 new songs for free early in the year.  The album will be called “For God and King,” and Chris plans to give it away.

Then, nine to 10 months later, he plans to release what he calls an “artist” album titled “Colorado” that could include as many as 25 tracks of music he has written.  He’s planning to sell downloads for $9 and albums for $15.

And to help finance the venture, he’s looking to raise $25,000 through KickStarter by Friday morning.  As of Tuesday morning, friends and fans had pledged nearly $11,000.

Sligh has released two perfectly competent Christian albums since Idol — “Running Back to You” in 2008 and “Anatomy of Broken” in 2010.

But he parted with his label and his publishing company in 2011 and is now working as worship pastor “at a large church in sight of the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Colorado,” according to his KickStarter appeal.

Check out the appeal and you’ll get to meet Chris’ young daughter.  The artist album will include sounds of Colorado, from ducks quacking to cornfields rustling.

Nah, that’s just Chris being a jokester in his KickStarter video.

In fact, he provides this link so people can check out some of his unreleased material.
