Andrew Garcia (FOX Photo)Season 9 American Idol contestant Andrew Garcia released a smooth new single today called “Crazy.”

It’s not a cover of the Aerosmith hit. Or a cover of the old Patsy Cline song.

It’s an Andrew Garcia original, it’s available on iTunes and it’s the first post-Idol release from the 25-year-old from Moreno Valley, Calif.

But, apparently, it will soon be followed by more new music.

Last week, Andrew tweeted that he plans to release an EP in August, to be followed at some point by a debut album.

“Now the album is taking longer only cause I found out that I’m gonna be working with some incredible writers,” he said in the Tweet.

Andrew, you’ll recall, finished ninth on Idol last year and was best buddies with Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze.

He’s has also co-written a song with Tori Kelly called “Explode,” and they’re recording it.

You might not remember Tori, but she’s a talented singer-songwriter who came within a whisker of making the Idol semifinals last year.

The Idol judges were down to their last pick and selected Haeley Vaughn instead. In a moment of Idol folly, I might add. Anyway, we’ll be looking forward to that duet.

And Andrew’s release marks the second in two weeks from a Season 9 contestant. Last week, Lacey Brown released an excellent EP entitled “Let It Go.” Here’s more info.
