Dane and Stephanie, one of just two duos to earn a spot on Season 17 of The Voice, were eliminated in the battle round.
But the 21-year-old Mautone twins from Bloomfield, N.J., are already planning a debut single.
They had won a spot on Team John Legend — and praise for their harmonies — with a blind audition performance of “Angela” by The Lumineers.
Dane, born Dana, also became just the second transgender performer to compete on the show.
In the battle round, Dane and Stephanie were paired against Marybeth Byrd, who turned four chairs in the blinds, and asked to perform “Burning House” by Cam.
They again received praise from the judges. But John decided to advance Marybeth, and Dane and Stephanie were eliminated when they weren’t saved or stolen.
Here’s what the duo told Voice views about their time on the show and their plans moving forward.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Stephanie: For me the biggest takeaway from this experience has been that I can do anything that I set my mind to. It’s been a really inspiring process and I think The Voice has given me the confidence to not be afraid and to just go for the things I want.
Dane: My biggest takeaway has definitely been my growth in confidence and realizing that I am capable of anything I work hard for.
Voice Views: The battles were filmed over the summer. What have you been doing musically since then and where are you hoping The Voice experience leads?
Stephanie: I think this summer we both grew so much together, and because of that we’ve really just been working together and focusing on finding our exact sound that we want to share with people.
Dane: I hope our experience on The Voice opens up many more opportunities for us to share more of what we can do and our passions with the world.
Voice Views: Have you and do you plan to continue performing as a duo?
Dane & Stephanie: We both will always perform together as a duo because there is something so magical about singing and harmonizing together. With that being said we think we will both also venture off on our own artistic endeavors as well.
Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expert in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?
Dane & Stephanie: Yes! We have been working on our first single, just making sure we feel that it’s very us. The song is a love song with a laid-back feel to it.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Stephanie: I’m just so grateful for it. I feel that I’ve learned so much and met so many great people through the process, and it’s just something that I’ll never forget.
Dane: I am so grateful for it as well. It was an incredible experience and I loved every second of it. As Stephanie said we met so many great people in the process. I grew and learned so much throughout all of it.
