And the list includes season seven American Idol runner-up David Archuleta.

The concert runs from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol and will air on PBS.

Jimmy Smits will host the event. Other performs include Darius Rucker, Reba McEntire and Gladys Knight.

Oh, and there will be fireworks, of course.

As for David, he’s been touring the country doing book signings in support of his new book: “Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song and the Power of Perseverance.”

Now, what would a 19-year-old know about perseverance?

Well, I haven’t read the book yet, but I caught David on a recent Fox and Friends interview where he mentioned a 2004 scare when his suffered a problem with his vocal chords — a problem severe enough that he wasn’t certain he’d be able to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a singer.

The, of course, was four years before Idol and the release of a self-titled debut album that has since gone gold.

David’s followup album is due out sometime this year. I haven’t heard anything about a precise release date.
