Feeling a little lost because there wasn’t a new Idol music release this week?

Want to sample some Idol music that’s flying under the radar?

Head to Major Bob Music and you can pick up a four-song EP from Felicia Barton for $5.

You remember Felicia. She’s the gal from Virginia Beach who replaced Joanna Pacitti in Idol’s final 36 this year.

She didn’t make the finals, but that was due more to a lack of exposure than a lack of talent.

Major Bob Music is a publishing and management company based in Nashville. At this point, the company doesn’t have a formal relationship with Felica, other than distributing her EP, said Jesse Frasure, director of A&R with Major Bob.

“We’re bringing her to Nasvhille to set up meetings with writers and producers and just trying to carve out a direction for her,” Frasure said.

“She has an amazing boice. We’ve had her do country demos and pop demos, and she can handle both,” he added. “We think she’s bigger than living off being on Idol for one season.”

The songs on the EP include “Foolish About Your Love,” “Alone,” “Here Comes the Day” and “Magic Carpet.”

Felicia BartonFelicia says she wrote the latter tune and had a hand in writing all four. Grammy-nominated songwriter Cary Barlowe helped write the other three; and Frasure has a co-writing credit on “Foolish About Your Love” and “Alone.”

And don’t let the Nashville connection fool you. All four are pop tunes.

You can sample three of the tunes on Felicia’s MySpace page. Make sure to check out the infectious “Magic Carpet”

But you won’t find the ballad “Alone” there. And to my ears, it features the most impressive vocal of the four.

Here’s a link to a full-length Idol Chatter interview with Felicia, from July, about her Idol experience and her future plans.
