The battles begin Monday night on The Voice.
And the show is promoting those upcoming battles by leaking a Team Snoop Dogg performance by Christina Eagle and Gail Bliss.
They thrill the crowd with a rousing rendition of Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” that’s so much fun that Snoop spends most of the performance dancing around his big red chair.
We’ll have to wait until Monday to find out who advances, but both singers receive high marks from the judges.
That’s certainly true from their coach, who praises them for tackling the performance as a duet rather than two competing artists.
Reba McEntire calls the performance “totally entertaining.” Michael Buble says he was “digging every single second of it.”
And Gwen Stefani describes the coaches as “a little blown away by the moment.”
Perhaps that’s because Christina, 23, of Catawba, N.C., turned just Snoop’s chair during the blinds.
Gail, of Little River, S.C. — the oldest contestant ever to make the show at 61 — failed to turn any. Snoop used his replay button to grant her a spot on his team.
In truth, both turned in much better blind auditions than they got credit for. So I wasn’t the least bit surprised that their battle turned out out so well.
Gail, with tons of performance experience, showed off a rich, raspy voice and worked the stage like the pro she is.
Christina showed off great stage presence and ended the song with one heck of a glory note.
Who will advance?
We’ll have to wait until Monday to find out. But keep this in mind. The coaches have no saves during this year’s battles. Each coach does have two steals.
