She completed that mission during the episode that aired Tuesday, landing country singer Megan Rose following her very impressive performance of “Ode to Billie Joe.”
Time will tell whether that was a wise move for Megan. Seems to me it would have been easier to stand out on male-dominated Team Adam Levine than alongside 11 other ladies on Team Miley.
But Megan and show-opening Kristi Hoopes certainly flashed plenty of star potential as the Season 13 blind auditions came to a close.
For those keeping count, those blind auditions ended with just six singers earning four-chair turns: Jon Mero of Team Adam, Keisha Renee of Team Blake, Davon Fleming and Chris Weaver of Team Jennifer and Moriah Formica and Brooke Simpson of Team Miley.
Here’s a recap of what happened Tuesday, complete with my picks for the top two auditions.
Night’s top two
1. Megan Rose **
Song: “Ode to Billie Joe” by Bobbie Gentry
Chair turns: Midway through the performance Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine turned together. Megan joins Team Miley.
Why: Regardless of genre or geography, Megan shouldn’t have trouble finding venues where she’s welcome to perform if she sings like that.

2. Kristi Hoopes
Song: “Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love” by Trisha Yearwood
Chair turns: Blake Shelton turned midway through the performance. He was later joined by Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson. She picks Team Blake.
Why: Love the style, love the hat, but most of all loved the confidence she showed on an upbeat, rapid-fire song in a pressure-packed situation.
