Anna Melvin is among the American Idol contestants hoping the second time is the charm in Season 13.

Anna, 22, from Memphis, also made it to Hollywood last year, but says she got cut in the first round.

Anna Melvin was one of the singers to advance from the Austin auditions on American Idol.

“I felt like I did the best I could possibly do,” she says in her Road to Hollywood video. “It just wasn’t my year. So I told them if they didn’t pick me, I’d be back. So here I am.”

We caught just a snippet of Anna’s audition in the Austin episode. She sang Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and is Hollywood bound again.

Anna leaves no doubt as to who her inspiration is: Celine Dion.

“I have all 13 of her albums that are in English,” she told Idol last year. “I know every single word. I’ve read her autobiography six times. I traveled to Vegas for my 21st birthday to go see her. I bawled my eyes out. She’s the reason that I’m singing today.”

As for her own music, Anna says she likes to sing pop but has a bit of twang in her voice, so she considers herself pop country.

And she says she catches people off guard with her big voice. After all, she stands just 4-foot-11.

“A lot of people don’t expect such a big voice to come out of such a small girl,” says Anna.
