And the honor of being the very first contestant shown on American Idol Season 13 went to …

Marrialle Sellars, who auditioned in Detroit, which wasn’t one of the cities to be featured in Wednesday’s Season 13 premiere.

Still, Marrialle impressed the judges — and rightly so — playing guitar and singing Bruno Mars’ “Grenade.”

Jennifer Lopez said she loved the tone of Marrialle’s voice; Keith “loved” the performance.

Harry Connick Jr. went a step further, predicting she’ll be “a nightmare” for the other contestants.

Still in high school, 17-year-old Marrialle apparently auditioned with her sister Zena, according to this story on CBS Detroit.

Marrialle got a ticket to Hollywood; Zena did not.

Marrialle told the station missing school would be worth appearing on Idol.

“Singing’s my life and I couldn’t think of my life without it,” she told the station.

Marrialle appears to have scrubbed her Facebook page and doesn’t appear to have a Twitter account.

But there are a couple of videos of her performing on YouTube and I’ve embedded them below.

She and her sister also performed as a gospel music duo called Majestic II Praise at one point

The first video below is a song Marrialle wrote for her choir director.

“We’re Gonna Miss You”

“Payphone”

“Broken Hearted” with sister Zena (Marrialle is at left)
