Most American Idol reviewers agree tonight’s finale should be between La’Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon.

I’ve indicated as much in this week’s rankings. And the popularity of last week’s performances would seem to point in that direction.

But I certainly won’t be shocked if Dalton Rapattoni lands in the Top 2.

Back when Idol revealed a Top 20, I posted a blog about social media support for the contestants. On Twitter, Dalton. former member of the boy band IM5, led the pack by a large margin, with nearly 92,000 followers.

I just checked those numbers again at 2 p.m.

Dalton’s up to 148,000 followers on Twitter. Trent has 43,800. La’Porsha has 41,000.

In other words, Dalton has gained more Twitter followers (about 56,000) since early February than the other two members of the Top 3 currently have.

Want more numbers?

Head to Instagram.

Dalton Rapattoni: 205,000 followers;

La’Porsha Renae: 73,600;

Trent Harmon: 70,900.

Those numbers shouldn’t be shocking. Idol viewers have long showed a preference for cute guys. Heck, since Season 6, there’s only been one female winner of the show.

So don’t be too surprised if that Trent versus La’Porsha showdown doesn’t materialize.

I certainly won’t.
