The Voice has announced the voting rules for its two Season 27 live shows.

Twelve artists — four not yet revealed — will perform in the semifinals Monday night.

Then five will advance to the Season 27 finals next Monday (May 19).

For the first time this season, The Voice will air new episodes on Tuesdays — a one-hour results show this week and a two-hour season finale on Tuesday, May 20.

Each will be preceded by a recap of the previous night’s performances.

The voting will follow the same process as recent seasons, one vote per email address per method.

Those methods include voting via The Voice app and voting via The Voice website.

The voting window will run from the time the show starts each Monday (8 p.m. eastern time) until 7 a.m. eastern time.

This Tuesday’s results show will also feature the only instant save of Season 27. It will be used to determine the fifth and final spot in next week’s finals.

According to a press release from NBC, the top four vote-getters will automatically make the finals.

NBC’s press release seems to indicate that everyone else — meaning eight contestants — will sing for an instant save.

That’s a heck of a lot of instant save performances for The Voice to pack into a one-hour episode, so we’ll see. If it means fewer insipid questions to the artists from host Caron Daly, I’ll all for it.

Keep in mind that the instant save has been proven grossly unfair to West Coast contestants because it’s conducted on East Coast time and is already over when the show airs there.

Fans of Kolby Cordell (from Ontario, Calif.) and Lucia Flores-Wiseman (from Maple Valley, Wash.) might want to keep that in mind.
