So, which Idols should be sweating it out tonight on American Idol?
Well, I’ve checked a lot of Idol blogs/stories today and many agree with what I wrote last night: Naima Adedapo, Karen Rodriguez and Haley Reinhart are the most likely candidates to the top 12’s bottom three.
Someone — I forget who — put Thia Megia in the bottom three. I fear that’s wishful thinking.
Anwyay, between now and the time we bid farewell to Naima, we’ll get to hear from the Black Eyed Peas and we’ll get to hear Lee DeWyze’s new single.
Let’s hope the audio works better than when the Black Eyed Peas appeared on Idol Gives Back last year.
For Lee’s sake, let’s hope this single is a lot better than “Sweet Serendipity” and its rapid-fire, not-very-catchy chorus.
Speaking of audio problems, we’ve already had a few during that group number, huh?
But great to see that Pia Toscano ditched the white outfit she was wearing last night.
And great to know Thia can sing something upbeat without breaking.
Commercial time: First a Ford video.
Commercial time: Second, a plug for that 10th Anniversary American Idol Hits Vol. 1.
And Idol found a way to move some of those, giving them to members of the audience.
Hey, kudos to all the artists represented on the CD, from Kelly Clarkson to Adam Lambert. I just don’t see a great amount of demand for a compilation album of hits most of us already own.
Sixteen minutes in, some results: Jacob Lusk is safe. Lauren Alaina is safe. Casey Abrams is safe.
Haley Reinhart and Paul McDonald are summoned center stage. Pretty obvious that Haley was expecting that spot in the bottom three. She takes it pretty much in stride, sorta like Kristy Lee Cook a couple of years back. Paul, meanwhile, survived a shaky week two performance.
And, now, Lee DeWyze returns to the Idol stage to sing “Beautiful Like You.” This is one of the better songs off his post-Idol debut album. Good luck, Lee.
Lee calls the new judges “great.” His advice to the contestants: “You’re fine, no matter what happens.”
More results. Three faves are summoned center stage. Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano, and James Durbin will all be back to sing another week.
Naima Adedapo and Stefano Langone learn their fate now. Stefano is safe; Naima is in the bottom three.
Karen Rodriguez and Thia Megia visit the middle of the stage. Karen is in the bottom three.
I could boast about getting the bottom three right. But, this being Cute Boy Idol, it’s pretty simple. You just pick the three least popular gals and fill in the blanks.
Hey, it’s fact. Two weeks and a guy hasn’t visited the bottom three yet. And it hasn’t been because every performance from a guy was that great.
Meanwhile, I think Haley should get a free pass to safety right now since she’s the member of this bottom three least likely to show up on stage looking like a fashion disaster. Just glance left to see what I mean.
OK, well the Black Eyed Peas had the audio working. The autotone, too. Hmm, after last night I’m think a couple of Idols could use some autotone.
Time to learn who goes home.
Naima. Naima. Naima.
Say it with me.
Naima. Naima. Naima.
Someone goes to safety.
Naima! You’ve got to be kidding.
And the contestant going home tonight is Karen Rodriguez.
Yes! Haley Reinhart is safe!
And on the chorus of “Hero,” Karen reminds us why the judges should not use their save tonight.
Bye, bye, Karen.
I’ll be back in a few with a wrapup blog.
