Idols no longer at the top of the Billboard 200

After three weeks, there’s someone other than a former American Idol contestant at the top of the Billboard 200.

John Mayer’s new CD, “Born and Raised,” bumped Adam Lambert’s “Trespassing” from atop the chart tracking the hottest selling albums in the land, according to MTV.

In fact, Adam tumbles all the way to number 11 on the Billboard 200, with about 22,000 albums sold after first-week sales in the 77,000 range. Mayer’s album sold about three times that in its first week.

Before Adam took over the top spot last week, Carrie Underwood held it for two weeks with her new album, “Blown Away.” She holds steady this week at number three; between Carrie and Mayer is Adele’s “21.”

Two Idol albums land on the chart for the first time this week.

Haley Reinhart’s “Listen Up!” checks in at number 16, with sales of about 20,000, according to MTV.

Kris Allen’s “Thank You Camelia” enters the Billboard 200 at number 26, with first-week sales of about 16,000.

In comparison, Kris’ first post-Idol album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200, the lowest debut for an Idol winner until Lee DeWyze came along the following year.

Check back later for a complete breakdown of how Idol albums and singles performed this week on the Billboard music charts.
