American Idol on Wednesday announced the track list for its Season 8 album, featuring the top 10 finalists.
I’m left wondering who in the world selected these songs.
OK, some were no-brainers. Like including “Mad World” from Adam Lambert.
And in some cases, there weren’t many highlights from which to choose. Hmm, that would be you, Scott MacIntyre. And you, Megan Joy.
But “Stand By Me” as Danny Gokey’s lone song on the album? “Human Nature” by Matt Giraud? Both turned in much better performances during their Idol runs.
And poor Megan. The article on the Idol site refers to her as Megan Corkrey. She made it pretty clear to the media during the season that she had dumped her ex’s last name.
A couple of other notes …
Not a single song on the album is from Rat Pack Week. Told you that was a horrid theme.
And the album ends and begins with “No Boundaries,” first the Kris version, then the Adam version.
Wasn’t ruining the season finale with that song bad enough?
Here’s the track list. The letter in parenthesis is the grade I gave these performances during the live show blogs.
The album goes on sale Tuesday, exclusively at Wal-Mart. For $10, according to the Idol site.
Following that, I’ve listed my choices for the best and worst performances of season eight.
Disagree? Let me know by posting a comment below.
I’ve already heard from someone who thinks the Gokey “Dream On” scream should have earned him a spot among the bottom five performances of the season.
