Nice seeing Kris Allen back on the Idol stage tonight, wasn’t it?
I mean, Kris might not be the most talented or the best-selling contestant ever crowned as “the American Idol.”
And I’m not a huge fan of his music.
But you’re going to be hard-pressed to find more of a gentleman among contestants from any year.
I’ve participated in at least a half-dozen conference call interviews with him now, including one earlier this week.
Just try to get him to say something bad about anyone. It isn’t going to happen.
And let’s just say my appreciation for his demeanor has grown since season eight ended.
Plus, I loved what he had to say about his return appearance to Idol during Monday’s interview.
It would be nerve-wracking to be back on the Idol stage he said.
“The thing about this is, it’s not about me. Every time I was on stage last year, it was about me. This time, it’s not. It feels like a really good reason to be there.”
The reason, of course, was Haiti, and the earthquake-ravaged capital of Port Au Prince, which Kris recently visited.
For more about his impressions of his trip, and the most urgent needs facing Haitians who survived the quake, check out this interview blog.
Meanwhile, here are more photos of Kris from the trip, courtesy of FOX.
And if Kris was wracked with nerves Thursday night, he sure didn’t show it during that fine performance of “Let It Be.”
All proceeds from downloads of Kris’ performance through March 25 will go to help earthquake victims. For more on how to help, go here.
