After American Idol

Jena Irene Asciutto delivers political message with her latest single

“Cold Fame,” the long-discussed debut album from Jena Irene Asciutto, is on its way.

In fact, with a June 2 release date, it’s right around the corner.

Meanwhile, Jena has released a new single called “So I Get High.” You might say it’s a song with a political message.

And if you have any question about what Jena’s singing about, it becomes crystal clear when the accompanying video concludes with Bernie Sanders speaking in favor of the decriminalization of marijuana.

Jena told Wmagazine.com that she turned to pot to deal with the stress of competing on American Idol. You’ll recall she placed second behind Caleb Johnson in Season 13.

She’s since been granted a medical marijuana card in Michigan.

“I use marijuana for both health and recreational use — and refuse to think that drinking alcoholic beverages is so different — but it depends what you like,” Jena told FuseTV, which debuted her new video.

“It’s the hypocrisy that I’m challenging and I believe it’s time to eliminate the judgement. What works for you may not work for others, but that doesn’t mean either are wrong.”

The new single and her message has sparked lots of debate on Jena’s Facebook page.

Meanwhile, “Cold Fame” will mark the debut album from the now-20-year-old, but not her first major release.

She released an excellent five-song EP called “Innocence” last March.
