Remember John Park, the Idol contestant who made Shania Twain go gaga during the Chicago auditions earlier this year.

During the audition round of season nine, Shania complimented his voice, his “nice lips” and his “beautiful bottom end.”

But Shania wasn’t around when John reached the Idol semifinals. Nor was the rich voice that earned him a ticket to Hollywood and the role as lead singer for Purple Haze, the a cappella group at Northwestern University.

After two weeks of semifinal competition, John was gone.

Turns out he left one singing competition to enter another.

And this time he made it all the way to the finals before losing to Huh Gak on a television show called Superstar K2 — the South Korean version of American Idol.

Here’s a story about the show, courtesy of Northwestern’s campus newspaper.

According to the story, the winner of Superstar K2 is determined by a combination of voting from viewers and judges (just think of the power, Simon Cowell).

For his victory, Huh Gak earned $180,000 and a new car.

But at least one of the judges thinks John Park has a bright future in the South Korean entertainment industry.

For those who don’t remember, here’s John’s Idol audition.
