American Idol fans were just given another reason to watch the Country Music Association Awards next Wednesday night (8 p.m. on ABC).

Oh, yeah, Carrie Underwood is hosting the show, along with Brad Paisley again.

And Carrie is up for a pair of major awards, album of the year for “Play On” and female entertainer of the year.

She’ll also be performing.

But the new news is that the list of performers will also include the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson.

If you weren’t aware, Kelly is featured on a song called “Don’t You Want to Stay” on country star Jason Aldean’s new album, “My Kinda Party,” which went on sale yesterday. (Meaning the songs is now available for download on Amazon, iTunes, etc.).

And Kelly and Jason will apparently be performing that song on next week’s awards show.

Other CMA performers include Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Carrie, of course.

Then there’s this — “the country music singing debut” of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Hmm.

Anyway, check back here Wednesday night. I’ll be posting photos and updating a list of winners throughout the evening.

In the meantime, if you haven’t heard the Jason Aldean-Kelly Clarkson duet, here it is.
