Idols on the Music Chart

Kelly Clarkson has her sight on yet another #1

Having already topped six Billboard singles charts with “Stronger,” a seventh is within Kelly Clarkson’s sights.

“Stronger” was the greatest gainer on Billboard’s adult contemporary chart this week, moving up from number seven to number five.

Standing between Kelly and another number one:  Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain,” Colbie Caillet’s “Brighter Than the Sun,” Lady Antebellum’s “Just a Kiss,” and OneRepublic’s “Good Life.”

As you can tell, the adult contemporary chart lags behind most of the other Billboard singles charts.

For instance, “Mr. Know It All,” the first single of Kelly’s recent album, is still number six, right behind “Stronger.”

Meanwhile, “Stronger” is still number one on the adult pop song chart and previously topped the Hot 100 and the charts for pop songs, radio songs, dance/club pay and digital downloads.

Other chart highlights this week:

*  Casey James’ debut album is still number 24 on the country chart but disappeared from the Billboard 200 after just four weeks.

*  Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” single is stuck at number eight on the country singles chart for the second straight week, but is likely to get a boost from all the promotion involving her album release, not to mention her appearance on Idol this week.

*  Mandisa’s “What If We Were Real” was nominated as best pop/contemporary Christian album at the Dove Awards and moves up from 20 to 11 on the Christian albums chart. It’s been on that chart for 55 weeks now.
