Idols on the Music Chart

Kelly Clarkson now queen of the dance chart, too

Back in October, during the promotional blitz for the release of her new album, Kelly Clarkson sang “Mr. Know It All” on Dancing with the Stars.

She was asked if she ever considered appearing on the show.

Her response: Not unless they wanted the show to turn into a comedy.

Well, look who’s on top of dance charts.

For the first time ever.

Yep, none other than Kelly Clarkson, whose “Stronger” landed atop the Billboard dance club play chart this week after being number two a week ago.

In fact, “Stronger” reached new peaks on four other Billboard singles charts this week, including advancing to number two among adult pop songs and number five among pop songs.

“Stronger” did get bumped from number one to number four on the Hot 100. Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” debuted at number one on that chart. Also between Kelly and the top spot: “Set Fire to the Rain” from Adele and “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

Other Idol chart highlights this week:

* Jennifer Hudson’s album “I Remember Me” jumped from 67 to 39 on the R&B album chart, re-entering the top 40 on the chart for the first time in several weeks. Think it had something to do with her Grammy appearance?

* Casey James, from Idol Season 9, sees his first post-Idol single move up to 26 on the country singles chart — 29 weeks after its release. The tune is called “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night.”
