Idols on the Music Chart

Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Mr. Know It All’ climbs the charts

Looks like Kelly Clarkson has a hit on her hands with “Mr. Know It All.”

No surprise there, of course.

I mean, Kelly joins Carrie Underwood as the most reliable hit-makers Idol has ever spawned.

This week, “Mr. Know It All” climbs eight spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 to number 30.

But that’s not all.

The song is now number eight among adult pop songs, number 18 among pop songs (up from 21), number 27 among digital songs (up from 48) and number 28 among radio songs (up from 36).

Pretty impressive stuff. And, if you want another reason to look for to Kelly’s “Stronger” album, due out Oct. 24, head over to her website and listen to “What Doesn’t Kill You.” It’s the song that spawned the CD title.

Among other chart highlights this week:

* Daughty’s new single, “Crawling Back to You,” cracks the adult contemporary chart at number 18 two weeks after its release.

* Mandisa’s album has dropped out of the top 25 on the Christian chart for the first time since its release, but her second single, “Waiting for Tomorrow,” moves up from 23 to 21 on the singles chart.

* Among the Idol EPs released a couple months back, only Scotty McCreery’s has a spot on the charts. It’s number 39 among country albums.

Of course, all eyes will be on the Billboard 200 next week to see where Scotty’s debut album lands in its first week on the charts.
