Kendall Beard: Back to school and back on MySpace

When I interviewed season eight Idol semifinalist Kendall Beard back in April, I had to ask about her MySpace page.

I mean, most of the ousted semifinalists had re-posted music on their sites, in most cases pre-Idol music they weren’t allowed to have there while they were still on the show.

But Kendall’s MySpace music player was still a blank slate.

Her answer: She knew folks would be waiting; she wanted to make sure the music she put up “is the best it can be.”

Well, Kendall now has three tunes she wrote on her MySpace page and more might soon be on the way.

Go here and you can check out “Hey Love,” “I Give You the World” and “A Thousand Pieces,” all songs Kendall co-wrote with a band known as Vallejo. “I Give You the World” is the best of the three.

The Texan has also been traveling to Philly to work with Revel Records, an indie label.

“I have been recording some new songs with them,” she writes. “We are looking and trying to create the best songs that we can in hopes to put together a showcase for me.”

And she adds that those new songs will appear on her MySpace page sometime soon.

The Philly connection is nothing new for Kendall; she used to be part of a Philly-based girls group known as Sahara Lane.

Kendall also recently took time out to return to the St. Cyprian’s Episcopal School in her hometown of Lufkin, Texas.

She credits the staff there with helping her overcome dyslexia. It’s also the place where she sang for an audience for the first time. One of three videos from her appearance there is posted below. You can find the others on Kendall’s MySpace blog.
