Teenager Koryn Hawthorne faced steep odds during her path to the Season 8 finals on The Voice.

For starters, she wound up on Team Christina, which already had two more experienced powerhouse female vocalists in India Carney and Kimberly Nichole.

Then the student at Lighthouse Christian Academy needed a pair of saves to survive the early rounds.

Both times, Pharrell Williams came to the rescue. He stole her from Team Christina after a knockout round loss; then he saved her when she wasn’t one of the top two vote-getters from his team duirng the live playoffs.

But since the finals began, the 17-year-old has become a fan favorite, in large part because of the intensity she brings to the stage.

And she enters the finals as the only singer to top Sawyer Fredericks on iTunes; she did it on Top 10 week when her performance of “Make It Rain” hit number three.
