Season 13

Learn more about the American Idol semifinalists

0

Next week, voting starts in earnest on American Idol.

And we’ll be treated to not two, but three episodes during semifinals week.

It will begin when the ladies sing for our votes during a two-hour episode on Tuesday.

The guys will get their turns on Wednesday during another two-hour show.

Then we’ll get the results during a one-hour show Thursday, when the judges will also make their wild card picks.

That’s right! The wild cards are back after last year’s embarrassment.

You remember: Idol took just 10 singers to the finals, then found itself one singer shy of having enough to fill out the schedule when the judges never used their save.

That prompted what Ryan called a “shocking twist” — an elimination-free week — which was only shocking to viewers who couldn’t count.

Anyway, this year there will be three wild card contestants, meaning 13 singers will advance to the finals.

Want to learn more about those semifinalists? Follow these links and you’ll find a bio, plus some pre-show music.

I’ll be adding blogs on the three missing singers — George Lovett, Maurice Townsend and Malcolm Allen — as soon as possible.
