Lee DeWyze’s second post-Idol album was released today.
Called “Frames,” the album is available in a base version featuring 13 tracks or a deluxe version that also features acoustic versions of all 13 songs.
As of 2 p.m., the deluxe version was sitting at number 68 on the iTunes albums download chart.
Which is a sign that however good the album is — and I have no doubt it will be better than 2010’s “Live It Up” — it will have trouble matching the previous album’s sales success.
After all, Lee is no longer fresh off a Season 9 American Idol crown or releasing the album as part of a major label deal.
When it was released in November 2010, “Live It Up” debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200, yet turned out to be the weakest selling debut album from the Idol winner.
Lee, of course, is still enthused about what he has called “the album I’ve always wanted to make,” calling “Frames” “the album that most represents who I am as an artist.”
Now 27, Lee has been touring with Serena Ryder. He also has solo gigs planned for Nov. 7 at the 9:30 Club in D.C. and Nov. 9 at the Keswick Theatre in the Philly suburbs.
