If south central Pa. music fans need another reason to watch the CMT Music Awards tonight, here’s one.

Lzzy Hale, lead singer for Halestorm, will perform with Eric Church.

Yep, as in Lzzy the hard-rock gal who snagged a 2013 Grammy for best hard rock/metal performance, then played a wildly successful homecoming show at the York Fair last fall.

Halestorm, after all, got its start in Red Lion, the town from which Lzzy and drumming brother Arejay hail.

From hard rock to an awards show on Country Music Television?

It isn’t as odd as it seems, since country awards shows have been marked by cross-genre collaborations in recent years.

And Lzzy will be helping Church perform a song call “That’s Damn Rock & Roll” from his album “The Outsiders,” released in February.

It won’t be their only collaboration. Church has invited Halestorm to tour with him for several shows later this year.

Church told The Associated Press that Hale is one of his favorite singers and her music meshes with his.

For Lzzy, the invite came out of the blue; she hadn’t met Church until rehearsals for the CMT Music Awards earlier this week, AP reports.

“I’m kind of what my country friends call a rock ambassador,” Hale told The Associated Press.

For those not as interested in cross-genre shows, Halestorm is returning to the area for The Shindig Music Festival in Baltimore on Sept. 27. Head here for more information. Other performers at that show include Jane’s Addiction and Rise Against.
