After American Idol, After The Voice

Bourg has released his second single since his successful run on Season 15 of American Idol.

The song is called “Little Moon” and hit iTunes on Tuesday.

It immediately rocketed to number two on the singer-songwriter chart, and was still there as of noon Wednesday. At that point it was number 108 on iTunes Top 200 singles chart.

“It’s not the catchiest song in the world,” MacKenzie says in the video at rigth, “but it’s a song that’s kind of close to my heart.”

MacKenzie, 23, finished fourth on the final season of American Idol. During his run on the show, he performed an original song called “Roses” on at least two occasions, releasing it as a single as soon as Season 15 ended.

That song came out under the Big Machine label; the latest single comes via Fairchild Records.

In addition to the video above, you can check out an acoustic version of the song on MacKenzie’s Facebook page.

We first met MacKenzie when he performed on Season 3 of The Voice, advancing as far as the Top 20 as a member of Team Cee Lo Green.

He released two impressive singles between singing shows — “Heartbeat” and “Everyone’s Got a Story.” The former made my list of best post-Voice songs from 2014.
