Six more singers earned spots on Season 25 of The Voice Tuesday night.
And Mafe, a 22-year-old from Miami, became just the sixth artist to turn all four of the big red chairs.
She opted to join Team Legend, joining the female trio OK3 and Gene Taylor as four-chair turn artists on John’s team.
Also making the show Tuesday were a pair of teens, William Alexander and Anya True, plus Bri Fletcher, Rletto and Alyssa Crosby.
Here’s a recap. Following the links will take you to a profile of the artist, complete with information about music they’ve already released.
BEST OF THE NIGHT
Mafe, 22, Miami, “Besame Mucho” by Trio Los Panchos and Gigliola Cinquetti: Mafe’s opening had all four coaches facing her way within 30 seconds. Chance and John were the first to turn, in hat order. Her voice is powerful and emotive. And her parents are overwelmed wiht emotion over the outcome of that audition. Chance says Mafe has “extreme” vocal talent. Reba said the vocal touched her heart and soul. Shay called the performance “phenomenally impressive.” And John said her vocals are “so tasteful” and “magical.” He even speaks a bit of Spanish in his pitch. And, in a rare occurrence on The Voice, Chance actually suggests Mafe would do very well as a member of Team Legend. Mafe opted to join Team Legend.
RUNNER-UP
Anya True, 17, Encinitas, Calif., “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez: Anya immediately shows off a unique singer-songwriter tone. And quite impressive range. An early high note enticed chair turns from Chance and Dan + Shay. Dang, this is impressive, especially considering Anya’s youth. Shay called it a flawless performance and said he loves the vulnerability in her tone. Dan loved the character in her tone. Shay said she could win The Voice. Chance called her voice amazing. Anya picked Team Dan + Shay.
William Alexander, 16, Staten Island, N.Y., “Ceilings” by Lizzie McAlphine: Chance starts nodding as soon as he heard William singing. He has a nice clear tone. As he hits the chorus, both Chance and Reba turn. The song swells. So do William’s vocals, but he can’t quite entice another coach to turn. Shay called his tone phenomenal. Dan says his performance kept getting better. Chance says he showed great vocal control and has a unique sound unlike anyone else on Season 25. Reba called his voice “a beautiful gift.” William decided to join Team Reba.
Alyssa Crosby, 32, Binghamton, N.Y., “Hand In My Pocket” by Alanis Morissette: Hey, I like Alyssa’s approach to this oft-performed tune. She’s really making it her own. And she has a nice rich, soulful tone with a touch of grit. Yet Alyssa was near the end of the performance before she got a chair turn. It came courtesy of Reba. John complimented her on moments that were “so powerful and so strong” and predicted she could do well on the show. Reba says Alyssa has a great voice and says she has a soulful sound she fell in love with.
Rletto, 27, Orlando, Fla., “Golden Hour” by JVKE: A passionate performance enticed a fairly quick chair turn from Chance, who was clearly loving what he heard. A tender ending also got Reba to turn. Reba said he did a great job and she loved his vocals. John called it a cool performance. Chance called Rletto a powerhouse vocalist. Rletto decided to join Team Chance.
Bri Fletcher, “I’m With You” by Avril Lavigne: Bri Fletcher: We only heard a few seconds of Bri’s performance. Chance said he recognized her talent and poise and says she has an amazing belt range. Apparently, he turned late in her performance.
Rob Cole, 32, Pembroke, N.C.
