Frank Garcia of The Voice Season 25

Frank Garcia of The Voice Season 25

His audition: Frank Garcia, 19, New York, N.Y.: For his audition, he sang “Love in the Dark” by Adele: Frank showed off nice range from the opening note. That enticed a quick chair turn from Dan + Shay. Frank also devliered a nice ending, but couldn’t entice another coach to turn, meaning he automatically became a member of Dan + Shay. He also said Frank carries himself like a star.

Here’s more about Frank:

* He’s living in New York now because he’s a student at Columbia University, where he’s working on a double major in architecture and music performance with minors in business administration and architectural engineering.

* But he’s from Roma, Texas, a town about five miles from the border with Mexico, and that heavily influenced his musical upbringing. Roma’s population is overwhelmingly Hispanic and Latino, and mariachi music is popular there.

* In a 2022 interview, Frank said he started singing when he was 7 and got involved in mariachi music at a young age. As a result, he also plays the violin, guitar, ukulele and piano.

* “The talent that it takes to do mariachi music is not just singing,” Frank says in that interview. “It’s also playing an instrument. My director, he would always tell me, you can be really good at singing, but if you’re not good at the violin, you’re not going to do well in mariachi. Even though it’s harsh, it’s the honest truth.”

* By director, Frank’s referring to the director of the mariachi program at Roma High School. The program was featured on the Kelly Clarkson show in 2020 after a video of them performing virtually during the pandemic went viral.

* Frank’s also been in singing competitions before. In his Voice bio, he talked about auditioning for La Vox Kids Season 4 when he was 10 and making it to the battle round.

* And in 2018, he advanced to the Top 15 in Tengo Talento Mucho Talento, another Spanish-language talent show.

* On The Voice, Frank said he’s leaning more heavily into R&B music now because it lets him be “who I’ve always wanted to be.”

* Frank said he also realized he was gay early in life. And he got extremely emotional about how supportive his parents have been, even after he came out as gay.
