Alyssa Crosby of The Voice Season 25

Alyssa Crosby of The Voice Season 25

Her audition: Alyssa Crosby, 32, of Binghamton, N.Y. performed, “Hand In My Pocket” by Alanis Morissette: Alyssa’s took a unique approach to this oft-performed tune really making it her own. She displayed a nice rich, soulful tone with a touch of grit. Yet Alyssa was near the end of the performance before she got a chair turn. It came courtesy of Reba. John complimented her on moments that were “so powerful and so strong” and predicted she could do well on the show. Reba said Alyssa has a great voice and added that Alyssa she has a soulful sound she fell in love with.

Here’s more about Alyssa.

* She’s a 32-year-old singer and self-processed “crazy cat lady” from the Binghamton, N.Y. area. About those cats, she has five.

* She’s a vocalist with WildCard, a quite active Broome County, N.Y., cover band that plays hits from the 1970s to today, according to its Facebook page.

* Alyssa has also performed with Grown Ups, an indie band that has released original music, and Masterpiece, a dance and easy listening band.

* She’s currently booking acoustic shows with fellow musician Nick Gacioch. They performed their first acoustic show together in late January.

* Alyssa also released a single — a cover of Miley Cyrus’s “Used to Be Young” — in early January. It’s the only song she has available on streaming sites. Check out a snippet of that cover below.

* “It’s a song that’s really meaningful to me because a lot has changed in my life in the last few years. And the person I am today isn’t exactly the person I was many years ago. I’ve made a lot of changes in my life and this song really resonates with me.”

* She repeatedly celebrates her sobriety — 1500 days and counting as of September 2023 — repeatedly on social media. That’s one of the changes to which she’s referring, telling The Voice that she and her fiance were both in a bad place before meeting and becoming one another’s biggest supporter.

* Alyssa also did vocals on a cover of Jefferson Starship’s “Jane.” That cover was released to streaming sites last May by the band Beyond the Fall.

* Musically, one of Alyssa’s biggest inspirations is singer-songwriter Rozzi.
