Adam Bohanan from The Voice Season 26

His audition: Adam Bohanan, 40, Minneapolis, Minn., “Home”: Adam is rocking out and showing off good stage presence. But he’s winding down the song before anyone turns. It’s Reba, who says “I can’t help it.” Reba said everything was great about the performance. Besides, she says she loves “dirty soul,” which is how Adam described his sound. Adam automatically became Team Reba.

Here’s more about Adam:

* Based in the Twin Cities, Adam’s a veteran musician who has already released music as lead singer of the band On The Sun.

* He’s now branching out to release solo music and has a crowd-funding effort under way for a debut EP as Adam Bohanan.

* In his website bio, Adam says he was born in Long Island, N.Y., but also lived in Israel, England and Houston, Texas, before moving back to New York when he was in his 20s.

* He’d been told by his teacher in England that music wasn’t a realistic career path, so he pursued other options and was tending bar in New York when he decided to start playing music again in his late 20s.

* He became lead singer of On the Sun, which released a self-titled debut album in 2014, a second album called “Gratuity Not Included” in 2018 and some singles — the latest “Overexposed” in 2022.

* On the Sun describes their sound as a mix of soul, funk, R&B and roots music.

* Adam, who turned 40 last year, moved to Minneapolis during the pandemic. And last spring, he toured the country for a month with fellow musicians Dan Saulpaugh and Elyse Jones.

* In a crowdfunding campaign video posted earlier this year, Adam says the music on his upcoming EP will be similar to that released by “On The Sun,” with the difference being that he wrote all the songs by himself and “this is going to be a lot more of a fun time … a little more free.”

* He’s about halfway toward his campaign goal of $11,500 and is making enamel pins, t shirts and mom jeans as rewards to contributors. Yep, you read that right; “Mom Jeans” is the name of one of his songs.

* On his website, Adam lists Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and Marvin Gaye as being among his musical influences.
