Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little spite in a country song.
Britnee Kellogg delivered a big dose on American Idol Wednesday night, pretty much dedicating her performance of “You’re No Good” to the man she says did her wrong.
It turned out to be one of the night’s bright moments from the Portland auditions, and a rather touching scene as Britnee got tearful about what success on the show might mean for her music career and, especially for her two young sons.
Identified as a 27-year-old banker from Vancouver, Wash., on the show, Britnee is also an aspiring country artist.
Steven Tyler complimented her “beautiful sense of humor” before she started singing, because of the song choice. But the best compliments came afterward, especially from Jennifer and Randy, who said he loved Britnee’s attitude and vibe.
If you want to hear more from Britnee, simply head to her brand new website, where she’s posted three originals.
She tweeted about the website earlier today and, once you land there, you’ll read a post from her saying “it’s really crazy to put a band together, and begin making music to hopefully one day share with the world.”
I hate to play the role of spoiler, but both are indications that Britnee didn’t make it to the semifinals on Idol.
This is the time of the year Idol semifinalists are pulling down videos and websites, not launching them. And saying goodbye to bandmates, not rounding them up.
That said, if Britnee didn’t make the voting rounds, it’s probably an indication of a surplus of female country singers in this year’s crop of auditioners rather than a lack of talent. I’ve never seen so many great country singers trying out for the show.
Think Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery might have had something to do with that?
But back to Britnee. On her website, you’ll find that she started singing at age 3 and honed her talent at fairs and talent shows.
“If it had a stage and a microphone, I was in,” she writes.
More recently, she’s been performing with Portland-based 5 Guys Named Moe and working on her original music.
And, apparently, singing with those sons — Caiden, age 4, and Hudson, age 2.
“They love singing with their mama,” she writes.
Here’s Britnee singing. And don’t forget to check out that website here.

She delvivered a big nose… I swear that’s what I thought it read. What’s going on in WA that this girl wins beauty pageants?
