Isabell Gallegos first performed in front of an audience at her seventh-grade talent show.
It wasn’t memorable, at least not in a good way.
“I lost horribly,” she recalls. “I didn’t even place. But in eighth grade, I came back and won.”
Just two years later, she was auditioning for American Idol in Galveston and earning a golden ticket to Hollywood at age 15.
She said she was inspired to try out for Idol because of the possibilities and experiences the show offers.
She hopes to one day inspire others through her own music, she says in her golden ticket interview.
As for the Idol who inspires her … her favorite contestant was Haley Reinhart, both because of her voice and her attitude, Isabell said.
Isabell is from Cedarville, Texas, and was a sophomore in high school at the time of the auditions.

Dude, it’s Cedar HILL, TX! AI’s website has the name of her hometown wrong. More importantly, Isabell is an amazing talent.
