Sarah Phillips, Season 11

Meet American Idol contestant Sarah Phillips

7

After seeing the photo of Sarah Phillips holding a mustache in front of her face during the Idol auditions in St. Louis, I’m sort of sorry she wasn’t one of the featured contestants.

That’s especially true after watching her golden ticket interview.

So how did she feel after getting three yes votes from the judges?

“I wondered, ‘Is this real life,” she says.  “I was waiting for a unicorn to come through and I was going to hop on it and ride off into the sunset and we were going to go to Hollywood. I had to pinch myself.”

Since we didn’t get to meet her in St. Louis, let’s head over to her Facebook page where she describes herself, in part, as “a happy-go-lucky tree hugger, a walking ipod, a dancing machine, a movie/cartoon fanatic, a daredevil, a geek, a poet, a kind spirit, an artist, a dreamer, a believer … I AM SOUND.”

Music wise, the sound started for Sarah when she was in seventh grade and sang the national anthem at her middle school.

Her inspiration for trying out for American Idol at age 22 is touching.

She says a best friend bugged her to audition, year after year.

Well, that friend passed away, prompting Sarah to feel like she had to try out.

She says she thinks the fact that she smiles all the time — sometimes even when she’s crying — makes her unique.

As for why she should become the next Idol …

“I believe that music is the answer to everything, and I’m willing to give that answer to people through my voice,” says the gal from Huntsville, Tenn.

Head to Facebook to find out why Sarah calls herself a geek.

Meanwhile, if anyone knows of videos of Sarah performing music, let me know.  There are a couple of Sarah Phillips with videos on YouTube, but I don’t think any are the correct Sarah Phillips.

I am actually really close to Sarah. She has NEVER had a band! I do know that she sang on that song because her friend (the lead singer of the band “The Addiction”) asked her to help out with a song. I was there that night with Sarah. It was well over two years ago. So as for her having a guitarist, I do believe that’s a hoax.
