Ben Woods of American Idol Season 24
Idol returns to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26 with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie.
Here’s more about Ben:
* From Jackson, Mississippi, he’s a 25-year-old educator who’s also served as worship leader, actor and has released music.
* He has served as an assistant professor of musical theater at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisc., and as theater and music director the Kenosha Unified School District.
* Ben holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and a Master of Music degree from Carthage.
* He has three songs on streaming sites, “For You” from 2017, “Winter (My Love)” from 2020 and “New Day” from 2021.
* He also lived n Dallas, Texas, for a period of time, serving as worship leader for The Potter’s House church.
* And in the summer of 2025, he was performing on stage at Broadway in the Boundary Waters in Ely, Minnesota, with roles in “Next to Normal” and “Sister Act.”
* A press release for those shows describes Ben as “a seasoned worship leader” with over eight years of service “creating inclusive, transformative experiences wherever he goes.”
* His mother also appears to be a singer and in one Instagram post of the two of them posing together, Ben writes: “I get it from my mama.”
