Bryce Leatherwood from The Voice Season 22

His audition: Bryce Leatherwood, 22, of Woodstock, Ga., performed “Goodbye Time” by Conway Twitty, He showed off a nice country tone and enticed a chair turn from Blake Shelton just as he was about to hit the chorus. John Legend and Gwen Stefani eventually followed. Blake said he was “blown away” by the performance. Gwen said she also likes Bryce’s “character.” John applauded the “richness” in Bryce’s voice. Bryce decided to join Team Blake.

Here’s more about Bryce.

* He’s front man for the Bryce Leatherwood Band, which formed in October 2021 and has been playing regular gigs in the area, including at MadLife Stage & Studios in Woodstock.

* In fact, that venue hosted the band’s first ticketed concert back in May. It was a success. Wrote Bryce on Instagram: “Our first ticketed concert, our first sellout and set a record for Madlife Wednesday night ticket sales.”

*Bryce says the band “combines traditional, outlaw and the best of today’s country, sprinkled with a little southern rock and a few originals.”

* Prior to the band forming, Bryce says he played solo shows at local venues for three years while attending Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.

* He graduated from college in May.

* Bryce auditioned for Season 18 of American Idol when the show stopped in Savannah, Ga., looking for talent and promoted the show’s 2020 premiere on social media.

* While he doesn’t appear to have released original music, Bryce posted a song he wrote — “Little Old Bar” — to YouTube. You can check it out below.

* While he’s been influenced by a variety of artists, Bryce said his musical roots “were formed in traditional country music.” His YouTube includes covers of Conway Twitty and Travis Tritt.

I followed show right from the start to see if Bryce would win. I was pleased of the outcome. Congratulations Bryce. Would like to be at one of his shows some day.
