Her blind audition: Chelle, 18, of Bargersville, Indiana, performed “idontwanttobeyouanymore” by Billie Eilish. She needed just a couple of la da das to provoke a chair turn from Blake Shelton. Nick Jonas turned when the song and Chelle’s vocals swelled. Kelly Clarkson eventually followed suit. Nick said he’d love to write songs for Chelle. Kelly said she heard beautiful potential in Chelle’s voice, but wants her to get lost in the message of the song rather than worrying about being vocally perfect. Chelle picked Team Kelly.

* Her non-stage name is Michelle Cox and her day job is as a pre-school teacher.

* Chelle told The Voice she’s been singing most of her life, but mostly around home when she was young because she was too shy to perform in public.

* Her grandfather often praised her beautiful voice and, at age 13, she started posting cover songs on YouTube.

* Around the same age, she said she joined a music program for kids called Band Builders that helped her overcome her stage fright and convinced her that she belonged onstage.

* Chelle told Voice Views that her musical inspirations include blues and soul singers Nina Simone, Etta James and Otis Redding. She also said she gravitates toward blues and soul music.

* She home-schooled throughout high school and says most of her performances have been little gigs at blues bars and at karaoke nights. Those were her biggest performances prior to The Voice.

* As for original music, she says she doesn’t have any right now, but adds: “I have a spidey sense that it may be in the near future!”

* Chelle said she’s hoping The Voice leads to a record deal or “even getting in contact with people who could help me progress my future in music!”

* As we heard on the show, she collects rocks as a hobby, has more than 200 varieties and even presented rocks to the coaches following her audition. Explained Chelle: “I like finding beauty in things.”
