Jayrah Gibson might just overwhelm you with his enthusiasm.
He’s the guy who literally jogged on stage during the San Diego audition episode, declaring that he’s a pop/R&B artist and a song writer.
Oh, and by the way, he’d written a song for Jennifer Lopez. Called “Shake Your Money Maker,” no doubt inspired by Jennifer’s performance in last year’s season finale.
But back to Jayrah. He’s also the guy with no Plan B.
“The reason why there’s no B Plan,” Jayrah says, “is because if you put energy into another plan, you will never succeed in your first plan.”
Which is to be the next American Idol.
The 26-year-old from Long Beach, Calif., took the first step toward that plan by performing “Just Friends” for the Idol judges.
Randy declared him “mad, mad good. We haven’t had a real R&B star from here in a long time. I like people to come in here ready to make records.”
Steven Tyler called him “the whole ball of wax.”
In his golden ticket interview, Jayrah tells us he previously auditioned for Idol back in 2002 and didn’t make the grade.
As for his exuberance …
“I have very much an outgoing personality. People tell me to tone it down sometimes,” Jayrah.
But this is TV, so I doubt Jayrah will be asked to tone it down anytime soon on Idol.
You can hear more Jayrah on his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, here are a couple of tunes.
