Her blind audition: Jaclyn Lovey, 16, of Placerville, Calif., performed “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley. Shortly after the song’s midway point, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton turned around almost simultaneously. Alicia complimented Jaclyn’s sweet and simple approach to the classic song. Jaclyn joined Team Alicia.

Her background: Jaclyn said she started writing songs around age 11 and is inspired by the likes of Billie Holliday, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. “I think that’s one reason my music is more unique,” she told The Voice. “I’ve always gravitated toward a more classical sound. People tell me I’m an old soul.” She said her community has been supportive of her musical aspirations, helping her acquire her piano, music lessons and record her debut EP.

What the show didn’t show:

* She’s been homeschooled, which means she’s always been able to focus on her passions of dance and music, according to her bio on The Voice website.

* An Instagram, she describes herself as a “folk-Americana-singer-songwriter-cat-lover type person.”

* Jaclyn’s been making music since she was 10, according to her Facebook bio, and wrote her first song at age 11 after a family trip to Nashville.

* The aforementioned EP is called “17,” was recorded when Jaclyn was 14 and features four songs she wrote. One reason she needed to crowd-fund the EP is that is was recorded in Australia in the spring of 2015 with Bill Chambers as her co-producer.

* Making that EP, she says, “was a huge step in growing and learning about myself musically. Taking that knowledge and bringing it to The Voice was really helpful. It’s really crazy seeing The Voice music and my own music on iTunes.”

* Below, you can check out the music video for a more recent and unreleased original called “The Jinx.” Jaclyn posted the video last May.

* In a cute “10 Random Facts About Me” video from last June, Jaclyn introduces viewers to her many cats, proclaims that she hates soda and hasn’t had it in years and reveals that, in addition to music, she likes to write novels and hopes to have one published at some point.

On picking Alicia: “I’ve always admired Alicia. I think her spirit and her energy are so admirable. when she speaks, she enchants you with everything she says. She spoke about honesty and being true to yourself in your music. I think that’s the most important thing in music.”
