Jonny Brenns will be a contestant on ABC’s revamped American Idol.

Idol premieres Sunday with Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as the judges who determine which singers make it to Hollywood and which don’t.

Here’s more about Jonny Brenns.

* On Facebook, he describes himself as an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from St. Augustine, Fla.

* In that bio, Jonny says he accompanies himself on piano and guitar and that music has been a big part of his life since he was very young.

* As for musical style, he leans toward “new soul mixef with alternative pop. Or if Daniel Caesar, the 1975, James Arthur and Leon Bridges all had a child, I would hope to be like him.”

* Last year, he auditioned for The Voice and it didn’t go as well as he had hoped. On June 1, 2017, he wrote on Facebook: “Recently I found it actually super difficult even to record music after kinda getting crushed iwth the whole Voice thing. It ook a while for me to love singing again purely because I enjoyed making music.”

* That said, Jonny released impressive music in 2017. Head to iTunes and you’ll find a five-track singer-songwriter EP called “Myriad,” and singles “Chase the Sun” and “Blue Jeans.”

* He’s now a student at Holy Cross where he and five classmates have formed “Scone The Band. “Big things coming,” Jonny promises on Facebook.
