Julia Sienna of American Idol Season 24
Idol returned to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26, with the coaching trio of Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood. Audition episodes air on Monday at 8 p.m. through Feb. 16.
Here’s more about Julia.
* She’s 20-year-old Julia Sienna Santiago from New Jersey. She works as a special officer with the Sea Girt Police Department. Last week, she performed the national anthem for Sea Girt’s Patriot Polar Plunge.
* And when you listen to her sing, the first thing you’re going to notice are her deep, powerful alto vocals.
* She’s gone viral at least three times on TikTok, with two covers of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” and one of “Oscar Winning Tears” by Raye. Each of those videos has more than 3 million views.
* She’s also released music, including a lovely ballad she wrote called “Lies” that she released in 2023, writing that she’d been working on the song “for the longest time.”
* She also has an original Christmas song out, is featured singer on the fun and upbeat “Livin’ Young” by The Beat Drops and collaborated on an EDM single called “Falling 4U” by Anthony Elardi.
* This won’t be her first time trying out for American Idol. Her YouTube channel includes a 2023 video submission in which she covers “Golden Slumbers (Carry That Weight)” by The Beetles.
* And judging from that YouTube channel, Julia’s been performing in front of audiences for quite a while. It includes a video of Julia impressively and fearlessly covering Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” when she was just 10.
* Judging from her Instagram and TikTok (80,000 followers by the way), she appears ready for Idol. Both are loaded with impressive covers of singing show standards. Check out Julia’s impressive cover of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind” below.
