Her audition: Kiara Brown, 21, Las Vegas, Nev., performed Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.” Kiara sang the opening acoustically with minimal assistance from the band. She showed off a nice lilting tone. Midway through the performance she got a chair turn from Blake Shelton. Gwen Stefani eventually turned as well. Blake called her voice “hypnotic.” Gwen liked the way she flipped the song and said she appreciates her singer-songwriter vibe. Kiara decided to join Team Gwen.

Here’s more about Kiara.

* She’s a Las Vegas-based artist who has also used the stage name Kiara Musik.

* Kiara has been performing on stage since age 10 when she landed the lead role in a local theater company’s production of Alice in Wonderland.

* She graduated from the Las Vegas Academy of the Performing Arts where she was a vocal and piano major.

* She’s now in college pursuing a bachelor’s degree and “performing all over Las Vegas while doing so,” according to her Facebook bio.

* Kiara also teaches piano, guitar and vocal lessons to younger children.

* Two years ago, the White House invited her to sing the national anthem at an event designed to raise awareness about violence on college campuses.

* In 2017, she released a pair of EPs you can still find on Apple Music as Kiara Musik. “Hi … My Nmae is Musik” volumes one and two feature a total of 11 songs. Kiara wrote one of those songs, “Free,” when she was just 10.

* Kiara kicked off this year’s Emerge festival in Las Vegas with an original song called “58 Stars” in honor of the 58 victims of the Oct. 1, 2017, mass shooting at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas. Check out that song below.

* Kiara was also selected for a Today “Women Who Rock” video series in which she received $5,000 toward making her music dreams come true and a chance to be mentored by Maren Morris.

* Oh, and there’s a photo on Kiara’s Instagram of her and her mother posing with Kelly Clarkson. Kiara explains that they met her at a private event.
