We met Morgan Ovens just briefly during American Idol’s audition episode from Minnesota.

But she was oh, so impressive with a pitch-perfect cover of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in Pocket.”

Jennifer Lopez called it a great performance and complimented Morgan on her style.

Harry Connick Jr. said she seems like the kind of singer “who can’t wait to get on stage.”

Little wonder. Pre-audition, the 24-year-old event organizer from California said she’s been singing her whole life and doesn’t have a plan B.

What the show didn’t show: Morgan is another of Idol’s Season 14 contestants with a singing show past. Performing as Morgan Tobias, she made it as far as the Top 16 girls on Season 3 of The X Factor.

Morgan grew up in Ontario, Canada, the daughter of two musicians. She was an only child and says music became a sibling of sorts during her childhood. In 2009, after high school, she moved to Nashville to pursue her dream of making it in country music. In 2013, she relocated to Los Angeles and now classifies her music as country-pop-rock.

She has apparently toured in Sweden and China, as well as Canada and the U.S. And she has four originals you can check out on her ReverbNation page, including a single called “Back Around.”

Here are some Morgan links, followed by samples of her music.
