Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 18 with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie back intact.
Here’s more about Nick.
* He’s a pop singer in his early 20s from the Houston, Texas area, and he’s already released music.
* He’s also appeared on a singing show previously, specifically Season 14 of America’s Got Talent in 2019.
* Nick, 17 at the time, got limited air time and was eliminated in the second round after singing Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody.”
* In a 2022 interview with Voyage Houston, Nick said his interest in music started when he was young. While everyone else was playing basketball at the local Boys and Girls Club, he’d be singing at the top of his lungs.
* That led to several invitations to perform the national anthem at area events, and he’d eventually sing the anthem for professional sports teams around Houston as well. That includes performing the anthem at a Houston Astros playoff game in 2015.
* As a teenager, he attended the School of Rock in Webster, Texas, leading to the formation of a successful cover band called Nick and The Groove.
* At the time of the interview, Nick said he’s spent the past three years splitting his time between Houston and Nashville, performing at the former, recording and writing music at the latter.
* He released four singles between 2021 and 2022, then dropped his most recent, “Sayin’ Too Much,” in mid-January. You can check it out below.
* Nick says the song is about the outpouring of emotions that follows the end of a special relationship. “You can’t bottle up those feelings,” he says.
* On his website bio, Nick says his inspirations include Adele, Whitney Houston, Chris Stapleton and Michael Jackson and that he’s hoping to combine the skills they’re known for into a sound all his own.
* Nick’s also built an impressive social media following, including more than 600,000 followers and 3.4 million likes on TikTok.
