Well, she’s not exactly a novice at the music business or televised singing competitions.

Stephany performed with a pop girl group called Eleve from the time she was 15 until she was 20.

And last year, she competed as a soloist on “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento,” a Spanish-singing competition aired on Estella TV.

On Idol, she auditioned with The Jackson Five’s “Who’s Loving You” and turned in an impressive ocal.

All three judges gave her high marks for her technical precision, and Keith Urban said he liked “her vibe and energy.”

But Jennifer Lopez cautioned Stephany to make sure she focuses as much on the meaning of the lyrics she’s singing as on actual vocal performance.

Still, Stephany breezed to the Hollywood round on Idol by a 3-0 vote.

In a radio interview, Stephany said Season 15 marks her second attempt at Idol. She also made it to the Hollywood round in Season 11.

As for her musical background, she said her mom told her she was already humming along to songs when she was just 1 year old.

“It’s in me. It’s in my blood,” Stephany, 21, said. “I don’t remember not singing.”

She said she never had formal training; she couldn’t afford it. So she listened to artists she loved, like Beyonce and Celine Dion.

“I would take what I liked and make it my own,” she said. “Through that, I was able to find me.”

As for Eleve, she said the group was able to do “some pretty amazing stuff,” including participating in a campaign against domestic violence.
